We’ve put together a list of books to read to educate yourself about white supremacy and racism. Reading these is a start; a way to begin putting in the work needed. We’re conscious that lots of these books are selling out so we’ve looked for wider, less discussed titles in places. We hope they’re selling out because readers are committed to change!
If you’re making a purchase and can match it with a donation to one of the various funds and black-led charities that are working tirelessly, we urge you to do so.
You’ll notice we’ve include books suitable for children and even babies (board books); we’re never too young to learn and it’s been shown that babies as young as 3 months can identify face colour and as young as 2+ years, will use race to choose playmates. *credit @theconciouskid Instagram citing Kelly et al 2005 and Katz & Kofkin 1997
This is by no means an exhaustive list but we hope it’s a helpful start.

Some absolutely incredible books here, I’d love to see more of those children’s books in primary schools as children can learn so much from reading them and learn more about diversity x

I’ve heard very mixed reviews about ‘why i’m no longer talking to white people about race’ but i’ve ordered it nontheless. I’ve come to understand that just because someone thinks a book isn’t the best, doesn’t mean it won’t make a massive (or even slight) difference to you! Looking forward to reading it tbh!
Thank you for always sharing books that are relevant to what is going on in the world! Definitely adding the ones I’ve not read to my list!
